To needle felt this cute kitten we will need a little sliver, colorful wool – orange, beige and white (for the tail tip and cheeks), pink (for the nose) and dark-green (for the eyes), a sponge, and needles. This toy is an improvisation – we won’t make any patterns and sketches. Trust your experience and imagination. If you are the beginner in needle felting, you may sketch the parts of the kitten’s body – it will be easier for you to felt them. At first, take a little sliver and make a ball from it. Are you going to have a wedding? Congratulations! You are so happy! But what can make your wedding special? Of course the little trifles which, when taken together, create the whole image of your wedding ceremony.

So, let’s start creating these little wedding cake toppers with our own hands. All we need for it are: the needles, the sliver of three colors (white, blue and black) and a sponge. Pieces of white colored wool must be the biggest as we need it to create our little birds. So we take white sliver and divide it into two almost equal parts, but still one part must be a little bigger. Everyone obviously knows what felting means. It is quite tightly felted wool. But not everyone knows what can be made off it. Meanwhile, a felt is a cloth with rather wide range capabilities for realization of any idea. The felting process is rather tedious, but the result might surpass even the most fantastic expectations.

People practice several techniques of felting and one of them is shibori felting technique, which attracts anybody’s attention by its magnificence. The shibori felting technique requires a pattern, a drawing, which is attained by the method of push broaching and felting. Actually, shibori is a Japanese word that means a drawing, obtained through batching-up and push broaching. The shibori felting technique is used basically in batiks: a picture is attained due to linkage beads – nodular batiks. The legend says that the first felted cover appeared in Noah’s Ark during the Great Flood when all the animals, as well as sheep, were gathered in one place. Sheep’s wool fell on the floor, got wet and was trampled down by sheep for several times. When sheep left the Ark, on the place where they’ve standing a beautiful woolly cover remained.
